| 内容記述 | 本研究は、看護という職業が，なぜ女性の職業として定着したのかという問題関心のもと、看護婦養成開始以前の日本赤十字社（以下、日赤と略す）における看護者の実態を明らかにすることを目的としている。看護者の実態とは、看護者が、博愛社という組織でどのように位置づけられ，期待された役割とは何であったのかということを中心に考察していくことである。 これらの考察については、博愛社における日誌、会議録、決議録などの一次史料を用いる。 その結果、看護婦養成開始以前の博愛社では、看護人という男性看護者と、看病婦という女性の看護者が存在していた。看護人や看病婦は雇用されており、養成ではなかった。具体的な役割として看護人は戦時救護を担う看護補員であり、看病婦は病院における看護を目的に雇用されたということが明らかになった。 その後、日赤は、看護婦養成を明治二十三年に開始したが、これら看護人や看病婦は、養成の対象ではなかった。 |

| 内容記述 | This article aims to describe the fact of the nursing system during the period that the Japanese Red Cross Society（JRCS）hadn’t held any institution of the training facility, deliberating the reason why nursing had been established as an occupation of female. The fact of the nursing system implies the position and the role that ought to be taken by nurses in the Hakuai-Sha（the Philanthropic Society）. For the purpose of these, Primary sources（e.g. daily reports, journals, resolutions and so on） of the Hakuai-Sha have to be examined. According to this examination, it developed that, in Hakuai-Sha, there had been two kinds of nurses: the kango-nin（unskilled male nurses）and the kanbyo-fu（unskilled female nurses）. And it revealed that the kango-nin and the kanbyo-fu had been employed not through any training courses of nursing. Making reference to the roles taken by each, the former had been charged with first aid especially at field hospitals in wartime, the latter had been employed for the purpose of nursing generally at hospitals in peacetime. The JRCS instituted the training facility of nursing in 1890, which was arranged only for female, not for male. |
