| 内容記述 | 統計学は現実世界を数字を介して記述する実践的な科学であるが、日本ではこれまで統計学の専門家が少なく、公衆衛生学など周辺分野の専門家が、統計学の教育を担うことが多かった。筆者もそのような周辺分野の専門家として、この数年来、看護大学で統計学を教えて来た。しかし2020年のCOVID-19禍により、突然にオンラインという限定された環境で統計学を教えざるを得なくなった。COVID-19禍は多くの分野で、これまでの価値観の転換を引き起こしている。このCOVID-19禍の状況下で、筆者もより分かりやすく本質的な統計学の教え方／学び方を求めて苦闘した。その結果、概念の身体化やナラティブなど、生活世界の中に統計学の概念を位置付ける教え方／学び方が大切だと分かった。COVID-19禍の現在、日本ではデータサイエンスやAI（人工知能）ブームが加速しつつあるが、統計学の人間的な本質を見失ってはならない。 | |||||||||||||

| 内容記述 | Statistics is a practical science that describes the real world through numbers, but in Japan there have been a limited number of experts in statistics so far, and experts in peripheral fields are responsible for the education of statistics. As an expert in one of such peripheral fields (health promotion), I have been teaching statistics for the past few years in a nursing college. The 2020 COVID-19 pandemic, however, forced me to teach statistics in a very limited online environment. COVID-19 pandemic is causing a shift in values in many areas. I also struggled under this COVID-19 situation to find a more meaningful and essential way of teaching/learning statistics. As a result, it was found that it is important to ground concepts of statistics in our real living world, such as embodiment and narrative expression of statistical concepts. Under such circumstances, the data science and AI (artificial intelligence) boom is accelerating in Japan, but we must not lose sight of the human nature of statistics. | |||||||||||||
