| 内容記述 | 本研究は、看護という職業が、なぜ女性の職業として定着したのかという問題関心のもと、看護婦養成開始以前の日本赤十字社(以下、日赤と略す)における看護者の実態を明らかにすることを目的としている。看護者の実態とは、看護者が、博愛社という組織でどのように位置づけられ、期待された役割とは何であったのかということを中心に考察していくことである。これらの考察については、博愛社における日誌、会議録、決議録などの一次史料を用いる。その結果、看護婦養成開始以前の博愛社では、看護人という男性看護者と、看病婦という女性の看護者が存在していた。看護人や看病婦は雇用されており、養成ではなかった。具体的な役割として看護人は戦時救護を担う看護補員であり、看病婦は病院における看護を目的に雇用されたということが明らかになった。その後、日赤は、看護婦養成を明治二十三年に開始したが、これら、看護人や看病婦は、養成の対象ではなかった。 | |||||||||||||

| 内容記述 | This article aims to describe how the nursing system was established during the period that the Japanese Red Cross Society (JRCS) hadn't had any institution o nursing training, and to reveal the reason why nursing was established as women's occupation. The fact of such a nursing system inplies us the position and the role that nurses ought to take in the Hakuai-Sha (the Philanthropic Society). We examined a lot of primary sources including daily reorts, journals, resolutions and others, to make clear the fact of the nursing systems. As a result of examination, we found that there were two kinds of nurses in the Hakuai-Sha. One was kango-nin unskilled male-nurses, and the other was the kanbyo-fu were employed without any nursing training. Regarding their roles, the kango-nin was especially charged with first aid at field hospitals in wartime, while the kanbyo-fu was employed to look after the injured and the sick in a hospital in peacetime. Although the Japanese Red Cross Society established the nursing training institution in 1890, the institution was arranged only for women. |
