The subjects were 1,335 students of 10 junior high schools in A Prefecture. The subjects were divided into two groups: one was given combined education on preventing dating domestic violence and preventing sexually transmitted diseases, and the other was given education on sexually transmitted diseases prevention only. Both education included a task study for parents and students , group study by teachers and students, lectures by experts, and individual counseling. The subjects' pre-education behavior and behavior in three months after the education were compared. Behavioral changes of 1,138 adolescent students were analyzed from the following aspects: frequency of conversation with parents, frequency of conversation with junior high school teachers, acknowledgement of violence while dating, awareness about dating, knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases , and experience of sexual intercourse. The response rate was 85.2%. The findings revealed that the students who received combined education showed higher frequency of conversation with teachers, more awareness about dating domestic violence, more knowledge of sexually transmitted diseases, and more recognition of "gender equality," "care for others" and "self-esteem" while dating, in comparison to students who received a single issue education on sexually transmitted diseases prevention.
