The project was implemented from\n2012 to 2017 under the agreement on technical cooperation between the Japan International\nCooperation Agency (JICA) and the Ministry of Health in the Republic of Indonesia.\nMethodologically, disaster nursing/critical care/emergency nursing curriculum was developed,\nassisted by the critical care unit members of Japanese Red Cross Kyushu International College of\nNursing. In 2014 the participants were the University of Indonesia and five other universities,\nwhere patient simulators were donated to test simulation-based learning as one of the instructional\ntools in basic critical care curriculum, that is, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) curriculum. Short-term\nexperts facilitated their Indonesian counterparts to develop training materials that would fulfill the\nmedical and nursing care needs in Indonesia. They aimed at the initiation and establishment of\nsimulation-based learning, effective use of patient simulators and their management, and support\nfor instructor training. They focused on teaching simulation-based learning based on an\ninstructional design in the workshops held in Indonesia once a year in 2015, 2016, and 2017.\nAs a result, the achievements of the completed missions were clarified through the\ninvestigation of the goal attainment for the second and third workshops: first, the Indonesian\ncounterparts became able to develop scenarios based on the instructional design to implement\nsimulation-based learning; second, they were also skilled in holding workshops independently; and\nthird, the experts confirmed the objective of this project was attained.
