Six regular participants in a 15-week writing course that incorporated text-analyzing tasks such as mutual evaluation and peer correction through group discussion were requested at the end of the course to make judgments on three reports of varying qualities. Five participants gave correct judgments based on fairly detailed and reasonable observations on stylistic features, structure, and the quality of information. A course-final questionnaire and interviews showed that all the learners had a positive and clear perception of their learning and balanced expectations of what to be learned. Our text-analyzing tasks were considered to be effective in promoting internalization of schema of academic
