Besides, in 2001, China ratified the Sino-Russian Treaty of Friendship which has allowed China to modernize its armaments. In the face of the military build-up and the Sino-Russian alliance, the neighboring states, especially Japan, has increasingly concerned about China's intension.  Realists warn against such China's efforts to balance against the US and its allies because it might fall East Asia into security dilemma. There is likelihood that the security dilemma might deteriorate several unresolved disputes such as Taiwan and Spratly Islands. Thus, they regarded China not only as a world economic engine but also as a main regional security threat. \r\n  Under the circumstance, it is pertinent to discuss whether the rise of China will result in military conflicts. In this article, I answer this question though the eclectic methodological lenses--realism, neo-liberal institutionalism and constructivism. As compared with the Cold War era, the contemporary world is politically and economically diverse, and it is inadequate to analyze the security dynamics with a parsimonious lens. In the third section, I analyze the current security situation in East Asia with these three perspectives in turn.
