We conducted qualitative content analysis of responses provided to open-ended questions.\n Three general themes were identified from the results: 1) ‘students’ experiences of SP participation in laboratory practice’, which included 4 categories: “experiencing closeness to clinical settings”, “experiencing simulated patient’s responses”, and “experiencing that things don’t go Justas we expect” and 7 subcategories, 2) ‘students’ perceptions of self’ was extracted from 3 categories: “experience led discoveries”, “emotional changes due to SP patients reactions”, “realizing one’s learning tasks/difficulties” and 12 subcategories; 3)’changes experienced by the students’ was extracted from 2 categories: “broadening one’s perspective” and “ increasing one’s motivation to learn” and 5 subcategories.\n Based on the present study, we plan to conduct further research with a larger sample size to improve reliability and appropriateness. We expect these results to contribute to the draw up of guidelines for SP participation-based education in our
